If he could eat “fufu” everyday, and bask in the relaxed lifestyle of this coastal African country, he would surely call this country home. Indeed, he’s teammates, for the couple of weeks he was in this country, gave him the name “Kwame”. Still struggling to guess which country this is? Jump to the next paragraph to find out. Let me introduce you to Evan “Kwame” Paez.
He is fluently bilingual (English and Spanish), and a James Madison graduate who has a strong family support system that keeps him grounded.

Evan and I met in Ghana, two individuals on separate journeys, we soon realized football dreams brought us together. He is a commanding, ball-passing and possession-based player, with assist-making and goal-scoring capabilities from Central Midfield. He is not afraid to use he's left foot, though he is mainly right footed. He recently signed he’s first professional contract with Manurewa AFC, in New Zealand, where he has began lighting-up the league with he’s performances; a sumptuous long-range goal against Auckland City (they recently played in the 2025 Club World Cup).
He’s football journey has been a long one; from Bethesda SC to NCAA Division 1 level at James Madison University, he then had several trials and preseason trainings with an Argentine Club - Club Sportivo Dock Sud - and USL Championship club Loudoun United FC. With these clubs interested but having full squads for the 2024-2025 football season already, Evan got convinced to visit Ghana and experience football; Vision FC was the target. The club is coached by the soft-spoken and highly intelligent Nana Agyemang, who is renowned for developing young players and who’s team play a unique brand of fluid attacking football, built on defensive solidity. With the need to further enhance training for Evan, he began training with Progen FC, a partner club to Vision FC; both teams train at the same training venue. Players and coaches from both teams, including their respective fans and supporters, loved having Evan around.

After weeks of eating fufu and diving into the vast array of Ghanaian cuisine, while training and playing preseason matches with Progen FC, it was time for Evan to move to the US, as the search for a professional contract intensified. This was October 2024.
Silence…for months.
In January 2025, Manurewa AFC came calling with a 1 year contract. In conversations with Evan, he is enjoying the country and city, including the natural scenery. And like all Americans, who have not played in a “promotion-relegation” league system, the intensity for match points has been something he is enjoys experiencing; as he has only watched such on TV.
Clubs who are looking for a central midfielder who can keep possession of the ball, is always available for a pass, constantly makes off-the-ball runs, is immediately ready to go into battle with he's teammates, and who is a strong communicator and leader…Evan Paez is the player you need.
